Matematika dalam bahasa Inggris

Pada saat mengajar di kelas kadang kita keceletot salah ucap dalam menyebutkan ekspresi Matematika  tentunya dalam Bahasa Inggris. Apa yang kita sebut dan yang kita tulis suka berbeda. Hal ini sering  terjadi saat ngajar di kelas sehingga mengakibatkan murid kebingungan. Sekedar mengingatkan ini ada bebrapa contoh cara membaca ekspresi matematika dalam bahasa Inggris.

1. 3 + 2 = 5             : three plus two is equal to five
2. 7 – 6 = 1               : seven minus six is equal to one
3. 9 x 8 = 72           : nine times eight is equal to seventy two
4. 8 : 2 = 4                : eight divided by two is equal to four
5.                : square of five / five to the second power
6.                : cube of five / five two the third power
7.                : five two the fourth power
8.           : square root of seven
9.     : cube root of seven
10.     : fifth root of seven
11. - 6               : negative six
12. 5 > 2          : five is greater than two
13. 2 < 5          : two is less than five
14.         : a is greater than or equal to b
15.          : b is less than or equal to b
16.         : a is not equal to b
17.          : a half
18.          : a quarter
19.          : three quarters
20.           :  one fifth
21.           : two thirds
22.         : two and one third
23. 23,786    : twenty three thousand seven hundred eighty six
24. 23.786    : twenty three and seven hundred eighty six thousands
25. 3 : 5          : three is to five / the ratio of three to five
26. : triangle = segitiga
27. : result = akibatnya
28. = approximate equal to = mendekati sama dengan
29. = congruent = sama dan sebangun
30. = member of = anggota dari
31. = so =therefore =  jadi = sehinga
